User Group Care Package

by javery on July 9, 2005

I had my wife watching for the new harddrive I was waiting on so when she emailed me and said she got a 48lb package from Microsoft I was a little surprised. What the heck was Microsoft sending me that was 48lbs? Then I remembered that Drew Robbins, our Microsoft Developer Evangelist, said he was sending out user group care packages to each of the groups in the area. But 48lbs?

When I got home I tore into the package and found a huge stash of goodies. When Drew said he was sending a care package I expected some books, probably a ton of beta CDs, etc. This was so much more. There was a plethora of Xbox games, computer games, and other software! And not the crappy stuff, I am talking about full copies of Office, Visual Studio Enterprise Architect, Flight Simulator, Halo 2, and much more.

On top of the great games and software there are a bunch of new books, beta CDs, Microsoft trinkets, and a couple Microsoft Intellimouses. (Intellimice?)

What an awesome idea. We are pretty lucky that we have a DE who used to be a user group leader, he knows that stuff like this will get people excited about Microsoft and help increase the attendance of our group. I am coming up with some unique ways to try and give out some of this stuff to the group, it should be a blast.

Uh… We’re supposed to give that stuff away at meetings? I thought it was for me.

Guess I need to try and rewrap some of those game packages I opened up. >:-)

happy you !

I guess your wife won’t be so excited, when she will find out how much time you would need to play with this 48lbs package?
