This was a great session about all the stuff you can do with Ruby in Mac OS X. Laurent talked a little bit about the new distribution with Leopard (1.8.6, etc) but focused more on the amazing stuff you can do with RubyCocoa. Basically using RubyCocoa you can write complete Mac OS X native client applications using Ruby, which to me is pretty damn impressive.
The speaker went through some pretty impressive demos. He made some simple Mac applications, used Quartz for some cool graphics, and even injected some Ruby into another application. (He was using Ruby to open and close TextEdit windows, change the name of the window, enter text, etc)
Apple really seems to be embracing Ruby and I think that will only help them down the road. Ruby and Apple both have a lot of momentum and putting them together can only help them both grow even faster.
