Well, it is finally ready to go. VisualStudioHacks.com is the companion site for Visual Studio Hacks, but I also want it to serve as a great resource in on it’s own. On this site I plan on posting information about add-ins, macros, and tools for Visual Studio. Each item includes an overview and screenshots at a minimum. I have already posted a number of tools and add-ins, I plan on trying to post at least 2-3 a week.
Some parts of the site are still a little rough around the edges, but I hope to get all that ironed out in the next week or so.
Future plans for the site include a section for Articles and Tips as well as Forums.
I would appreciate any feedback you have.

I know the site is young, but how can you not be listing Resharper (http://jetbrains.com/resharper/), CodeSmith (either as a tool or as an add-in – since explorer runs from VS) (http://codesmithtools.com), and GhostDoc (http://www.roland-weigelt.de/ghostdoc/)?
I will will definitly be including two of those, (CodeSmith and GhostDoc). For the time being my plan is to only include add-ins or tools that are free or have a completelt functional free version. (which would exclude Resharper)

James,
I applaud your principals and keeping the site limited to only free tools. I think it goes without saying, the definition of a hack DOES NOT include a purchase.
I hope you keep this ideal and refuse to post general coding tips or such in your articles, as there are already 10,000 sites that do it, some VERY well.
What do you mean by general coding tips? I plan on having articles that would cover how to better use Visual Studio, either extending it, or making use of little known features…. are those general coding tips?
Where are the download links? I think Regexinator looks interesting, and there is text that says "Hosted Here!", but I don’t find a link to download it.
Thanks for the heads up, I need to make sure I have the latest build then I will upload it.
Thanks,
James
Hey James,
The site looks good… looking forward to seeing some ideas out there. I just ordered a copy of the book today, too!
One item that always bothers me, and I just had to correct it for a guy here a few minutes ago, is that the asp.xsd file doesn’t have a good definition for the <asp:PlaceHolder> tag. Virtually everything in a PlaceHolder is invalid, intellisense doesn’t work, and you get html validation errors.
I always update the asp.xsd file so that the PlaceHolderDef entity matches the PanelDef entity. Have you seen this?
Thanks,
Jeff Handley
Don’t forget to add a section under Book Info for book errata. I didn’t see one when I checked.
Consider upping the RSS emission window size (i.e. emit more than 15 items), especially given the site is new and there are more than 15 items already!
Congrats on the concept, book and site.

It should be showing every item, I remembered to up that before going live to make sure all the items were displayed.

Hmm, you’re personal site doesn’t have the new book under your books page.
Great book James. Just did a review of it: http://www.csharpfriends.com/Articles/getArticle.aspx?articleID=414
