Doug Thews points out that it looks like Microsoft has set a date for the release of Halo 2 in the fall of 2004. So whatever Microsoft software you thought was going to ship in the fall of 2004, go ahead and push it back to the sprint of 2005.

Halo 2 Release Date Confirmed @ Bungie
Finally all of the rumors can be put to rest. On Friday morning Bungie at long last verified the official Halo 2 release date, albeit vague, as Fall 2004. While this is a dang long time to wait, I’ve got full confidence in Bungie to do the best job possible between now and then.
I’ll keep you all updated all the way up to the release, but expect a lot of new info come May during the E3 expo when Bungie will undoubtedly release a plethora of Halo 2 hype.

The biggest problem is they keep telling stores a probable release date. That is why stores are pre-selling the game with a certain release time period. Mine is 2/15/04-3/1/04. So if Microsoft wants to say it is releasing the game to the stores (the actual people who purchase from them) they should say it up front to the consumers too. Not some "when it’s ready" back door loop hole so they can’t be held responsible. That’s bad business. I want the best game too, but after 2 years of "soon" there has to be a deadline. Or at least a really good explanaition of what the hold up is. We get nothing.
Microsoft did not like the online multiplayer of the game. they hated it, thats why its taking soo long, the campagn is close to complete. o well, it will be the s*** when it comes out so its worth the wait.
it said like in august of last year they pushed it back from december 1st to March 1st but now they are moving it back to september first that sucks
For any of you that have a ps2 you should buy final fantasy x-2 it is an amazing game. This will keep you until halos release date with over 100 hours of game play if you complete the whole game.
Have you guys read the halo books? That helps me though these halo withdraws. Man, that time waiting for this game seems like a forever. I remember seeing halo 2 first advertised in winter of 2002 and been anxiously and patiently waiting ever since. I starting to lose my patience. Bungie is a having a ball tortuing their fans and its inhumane.
U people take it easy. Halo 2 will be awsome when it comes out. I’d rather have a good game id play for months on end then a crap game sloped together id only wanna play once.
I agree with all of ya, Bungie needs to release that freakin game and get it over with. Plus they are propobly loosing fans and slitting their own throats. By the way is it really coming out may 21st.

This is actually funny. I know you guys have been waiting for what seems like forever, but before you go and kill Bungie check their website for updates. Not forums where 12 year olds start rumors or people who say they have a family member or friend working at Bunige. So I am going to suggest to you to go outside and get some fresh air.
Yo check out the E3 realtime demo of Halo 2 on the bungie website. That thig is frikin awesome. after watchin it im already to wait another 7 months, but they better not push it back nemore than that
yeah! Personnally, I’ve played a "demo of Halo 2" just a little multiplayer action. It’s awsome, so is that battle rifle!

You guys all have good reason to be a bit dissapointed about the release date, i remember i had an e-mail on halo 2, IN 2002.
Offcourse me as a halo-fan i was patient enough to wait a whole year but 2 years is a ***** long time. But having seen the 3 trailers allready and the real-time demonstration i agree with Bungie, they can take their time to make the game as good as it can be. Meanwhile i will try to settle with less good games(?)…
In closing try to find the real-time demonstration. You can’t compare it to anything.
At least you can call it surprising and stunning.

Man, just relax. Halo 2 is going to be a great game but worrying about it is not going to help. It will be out in the Fall, with many little updates and info in between. But until then, just get a life, because the world does not revolve around Halo 2. And lastly September 1st is not the Fall, lets try September 21st. Im Just correcting an error.

I was most disapointed when I read in GAMER magazine that the release date was going to be sometime in FEB., Ill bet they have alot of disapointed readers!

i have heard that halo2 will be coming out when they bring out x box 2 then this way they will get every halo fan to get xbox2 just so then they can play halo2 and if thats the case then that is a good idea i think
i don’t think so because Xbox2 is going to use an entirely different processor than the first xbox, so they would have to re-write the entire game.
I heard this game comes out in October, but i highly doubt it

The Official release date for Halo 2 is when it is done.
I heard that Halo 2 is dated to the fall of 2004 and is goin to be released with everything of that of its siblings (HAlO)
WE should wonder if this game is goin to be better than Halo because of all the delays im startin to get mad and wonder if it is going to be as good as they say it is. I sure hope they made the right choice delaying it.
I think that Halo 2 will be the best game just like Halo. Just because it has been like 3 1/2 years. i just can’t wait for it to come out.

Christ you’re all making such a huge deal about a video game.
Granted I can’t wait for it to come out, but I know the reasons behind the delay. Play the first one and you’ll see that there were certain flaws and quirks in the game. If you stood in one spot while fighting 2 Hunters, you wont get hit when they shoot at you. Meanwhile you’re in open space and they have a clear line of fire.
They’re fixing any and every little quirk and bug they can find. When it’s finally released in the Fall (or even Winter for the Holidays) it will be nearly flawless and look perfect. There won’t be any chopping or bugs. The game is gonna be as perfect as they can make it.
You’re all complaining about the time it’s taken them to release this game. Do any of you know how long it takes to actually make a game with decent graphics, sound track and frame rate? At LEAST a year and a half. That’s just if you want it to look alright. A good game will take at least a year and a half before its released. A great game will take longer.
Just look at the difference in years that Final Fantasy has been released. Each one has been released at least a year or two after the last. Each one is better then the last. You take the same engine and rework it until it’s obsolete, then you create a new engine and start from scratch.
