4th Generation iPOD (4G)

by javery on March 19, 2004

AppleInsider has posted a rumor that Apple is getting ready to unveil the next generation iPOD. The rumors put a 2″ color screen, 50GB hard drive, and a TV out cable on the iPOD. Which would be very cool. I am also hoping this means there will be a better way to copy photos to it, the current accessory sucks.

I was planning on buying an iPOD this weekend for a couple trips I have coming up, but now I have to wait. I would hate to drop $500 and then have the new one come out in a couple months. Anyway, I have another MP3 player that can tide me over for now.

Can anyone tell me what exactly is the difference between 4./5.G IPOD despite the obvious: color and more storage.

no one December 12, 2004 at 2:46 pm

4g 20gb is thinner than ipod photo, WAy thinner and they both have click wheel so i guess nothing apart from the accessories that come with it

what is the point in waiting for the second generation mini ipod its a rectangle with click wheel and doesnt have as much storage yes it is smaller but wat is the point in getting it it costs loads n it is just a music player if you wanna know the 1 to get you best getting the 4th generation click wheel its cool the clkick wheel is easy to use and is so sensitive just get that best for price and best for music.

jas January 20, 2005 at 5:44 pm

hey can anyone help me? I am thinking about getting an iPod soon and i am trying to decide between an iPod photo or an iPod mini. At the moment i prefer the iPod photo but have heard that the mini’s are much more popular and trendy and alot lighter. can anyone confirm this and/or give me their views? also are there any other new iPod’s coming out that would be worth waiting for?

thnx.

thanx that is really useful info but also do you know if they mean adding different colours to the external part of the iPod mini or do they mean adding or changing the colour schemes on the screen?

thnx

Yeah I say just buy and ipod if you do the math the ipod mini is about $62 per GB the ipod is just around $15 per GB and there’s a new ipod mini coming out anyway so you dont want to buy one and be stuck with an old piece of crap also 4gb is small and the new 5gb is still way too small just get the ipod its the best deal plus with an educational discount from apple’s website you can get it for $269 the ipod mini is $229 by the way

Renee January 30, 2005 at 2:20 am

Hey-

does anyone know what the difference is between ipod 3rd, 4th, and 5th generation?

I think the ipod mini is a rip off, because you don’t get that many songs, and the only thing cool is the colors.

In the next 6 months I want to buy an ipod. I don’t need more than 20 GB, but I want color. Does anyone have an opinion about color ware pc?

The 5th gen iPods are coming out this fall, they will have 40Gb & 80GB (20,000 songs) models.

nanakeakua April 2, 2005 at 3:48 am

what is the deal with the 5th generation, what is the difference besides more songs, i have a 4th generation, is my iPod going to be just as good or is it going to be an old piece of crap

okotoko nitti balouga April 13, 2005 at 9:09 am

first of all id like to say that the 4th generation ipod has nothin to do with what this site is all about. I want to talk about my life and how i messed up at school and stuff this is just ****** (fucked) up yesterday i did good at school my teacher was proud of me because i did good in english class so the m,oral lesson of our conversation today is not to get an ipod but to get a life.

I do not tihknk that it does matter much, whethere its 3,4 or 5G iPODS. there will be 6 and XW and so on IPODs. but what is the metter, buy it now or not and wait for the future????????This looks like bullshit, because we’ll never be happy.

Well how p1ssed off am I.

I bought a 20Gb iPod colour on Sunday for £209. Last night (Wednesday) they announce a 30Gb colour iPod that will play video.

No hint of it on their website or at the retailer before.

First and last time I buy an apple product.

ok rant over. ;-)

Gat a grip mannivw October 13, 2005 at 8:38 pm

The 4th Generaton colour ipod is a great product, and I am sure it would have made great bussiness sense for apple to tell their customers not to buy their 4th generation ipod, but to hold on as the 5th generation will be out soon!!!!! (Sarcasim) Stop talking stupid.

suckitup October 15, 2005 at 3:24 pm

suck it up

Just wondering October 17, 2005 at 2:23 am

I was looking around at iPod’s on the next and came across one that has blue tooth??? I live in USA… is the blue tooth not here yet? Because for us Apple just released one with video so I assume it’ll be a while before the bluetooth comes out if its not included with the video one. Just wonderin… thx
